STAR CRUISES HONG KONG TO XIAMEN CRUISE PROMO 2026

I’ve finally experienced the Star Voyager Cruise from Hong Kong to Xiamen (China) where we sailed for 3 days 2 nights from Ocean Terminal in Hong Kong.  Good news is, Star Cruises is currently offering a HONG KONG TO XIAMEN CRUISE PROMO 2026 for as low as $169 (about ₱10,500 ++) per person per cabin sharing. And this is VISA-FREE cruise to China. Meaning, there’s NO NEED to apply for a China Visa, just bring your valid passport.

If you’re interested in taking the cruise from Hong Kong to Xiamen, here’s the details of the Star Voyager Xiamen Cruise 2026.

IMPORTANT: I recommend staying in Hong Kong for at least 2-3 days so you can explore the bustling city before or after your cruise. Fly in early for at least 1 day before the scheduled cruise, just in case you encounter any problems, and then fly out from Hong Kong at least 1 day after your cruise, for the same reason.

WHAT ARE THE BEST THINGS TO DO IN XIAMEN DURING A PORT STOP?

During the Star Cruises Hong Kong to Xiamen Cruise, after an overnight transit from Hong Kong, the Star Voyager ship docks in Xiamen Port, giving guests a full day to explore Xiamen’s key landmarks either via organized Shorex (shore excursions) or independently.

  • GULANGYU ISLAND

A pedestrian-only, UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its preserved colonial-era architecture, winding alleys, and quiet seaside views.

Gulangyu Island

  • SUNLIGHT ROCK (RIGUANG ROCK)

This is Gulangyu Island’s highest peak that offers 360-degree sweeping views of the island, Xiamen’s skyline, and the azure sea below.

  • SHUZHUANG GARDEN
Nestled against the southern slopes of Sunlight Rock on the island of Gulangyu, Shuzhuang Garden stands as one of southeastern China’s most brilliant fusions of classical landscape architecture and dramatic coastal topography. Originally built in 1913 as private seaside villa by Lin Erjia – wealthy merchant and scion of a prominent Taiwan family – the property was modelled after his childhood home, the Banqiao Villa in Taipei. Donated to the public in the mid-20th century, the garden is celebrated for its brilliant spatial illusions and intimate connection to the surrounding maritime environment.

Xiamen Tour

  • PIANO MUSEUM

Did you know that Xiamen, China is home to one of the world’s most fascinating piano museums? Located on the picturesque Gulangyu Island, the Piano Museum features rare antique pianos from around the world, celebrating the island’s rich musical heritage.

  • LONGTOU ROAD COMMERCIAL STREET
Running straight inland from the ferry terminal area on Gulangyu Island, Longtou Road serves as the bustling commercial enclave. As the primary artery connecting arriving visitors to the island’s interior labyrinth of historic villas, the street pulses with a lively mix of local commerce, specialized snack vendors, and vibrant street life.

Xiamen Shore Excursion

SHOULD I BOOK A SHORE EXCURSION OR DO A DIY TOUR IN XIAMEN?

While GULANGYU ISLAND can be easily accessed from the Xiamen International Cruise Center, I would recommend booking a Xiamen Tour Package via Star Cruises, or what they call the XIAMEN SHORE EXCURSION.  You can book this online, or onboard at SHORE EXCURSION on Deck 5. You can easily find it, as it is beside the RECEPTION.

Why do I recommend booking a Xiamen Tour Package instead of DIY Tour when doing the Hong  Kong to Xiamen Cruise by Star Cruises? Because on the day that you’ll dock in the port of Xiamen, there are a lot of cruise passengers who most likely availed of the  Xiamen Shore Excursion, so it’ll be so hard for you to book a ferry ticket to Gulangyu Island. I made some research, and according to people who did a DIY tour of Gulangyu Island in Xiamen, China, you need to book the ferry ticket at least 3 days in advance to secure a slot. Whereas, if you book the Xiamen Shore Excursion via Star Cruises, the roundtrip ferry ticket to Gulangyu Island is already included in the tour package.

IMPORTANT:  You need to claim your passport before getting off the ship for your Xiamen Tour. Instructions will be provided, so watch out for that or call the reception. It’s usually near the elevator of your room cabin. For example, I was billeted at Stateroom 9177. I had to claim my passport near the elevator at Deck 9 (see photo). Don’t lose your passport because you need it to pass through China Immigration, they will scan it before and after boarding the ferry at Gulangyu Island, and you need it to board the Star Voyager Ship again.

I’ll be posting a separate blog about our Xiamen Tour experience. You can also follow me on my social media accounts for more photos and videos during our Hong Kong to Xiamen Cruise via Star Cruises.

WHERE TO STAY IN HONG KONG

We flew to Hong Kong a day early for our Hong Kong to Xiamen Cruise, so we have like 1.5 extra day to explore Hong Kong before our scheduled departure. For our return flight, we took a late night flight so we’ll have extra time to explore Hong Kong.

HARBOUR PLAZA METROPOLIS
Whenever I’m in Hong Kong, I stay at the hotels inside Disneyland. It’s a tad expensive, but it’s worth it since the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable and walking distance to Disneyland. But for our Hong Kong to Xiamen Cruise, I stayed at Harbour Plaza Metropolis, it’s a stylish hotel perfectly located in Kowloon’s Hung Hom District. With comfortable accommodations and convenient transportation links, it’s an excellent base for exploring everything Hong Kong has to offer.

HARBOUR PLAZA METROPOLIS ROOM

IMPORTANT: Hong Kong hotels are banned from providing free single-use plastic toiletries and plastic-bottled water under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance that started on April 22, 2024. So for Harbour Plaza Metropolis, they did not provide us with bottled water. I wish though they could have just placed like a glass pitcher with water in the room and attach a refillable shampoo and conditioner on a glass bottle in the bathroom like what other eco-hotels in the Philippines do.
